Too Much Coffee Man- A Coffee Superhero

Today, we find out who is Too Much Coffee Man. Now I didn't even think of this guy prior to this video being made. I was trying to find a superhero that had to do with coffee, but just through some basic searches, I was coming up empty. I even thought about doing a coffee superhero meme video but didn't think that would be much of a quality post. Then, came along the creator of Coffee Quips, a group on Facebook, who gave me this great idea.

Now Too Much Coffee Man, who was created by Shannon Wheeler, isn't so much a superhero in the traditional sense. Just like how this video was for me, I don't think Too Much Coffee Man was Shannon's original idea for what his ultimate goal was for the comic. He initially tried to make a comic that helped show loneliness and isolation to a collage in Texas. This didn't seem to do quite so well initially. Shannon, from what I could tell, took his idea of Too Much Coffee Man and used him for these ideas because 'people like coffee'. Which, He isn't wrong.

Too Much Coffee Man is a pretty interesting super hero. His super strength comes from his insane amounts of coffee he drinks... along with cigarettes. His other powers include insomnia and overly fried nerves. He also has another superbuddy (well I say that, but he probably is just a friend who just wants to be like him) called Too Much Espresso Guy. From what I can tell, it's just a dude with a cup of espresso quite literally strapped to his head. With an actual strap.

Another neat thing I've found was that Too Much Coffee Man almost got his own tv show! Apparently he had a commercial before Saturday Night Live and another one with Marvel. Comedy Central must have seen a rising star and tried to see if they could make some form of tv series with him. Sadly, Wheeler and Comedy Central agreed that the script looked like junk and trashed it.

If you like this video and want to see more comic videos involving coffee superheros, just let me know and let's go brew up some love for somebody!

Will it Creamer- How it Came to Be

So Will it Creamer was really my first idea for a series on Java Central. It started as an inspiration from the 'Will it' videos from Good Mythical Morning. I've always been a huge fan of Rhett and Link and thought it would be fun little series inspired by their own series.

My first idea for 'Will it Creamer' was to be set up just like Good Mythical Mornings (GMM). I would make my episode about whatever I was going to make that week and follow it up with a will it creamer on some random thing I would put in my coffee, drink it, probably throw it back up, and just have a good ole time with it. Problem is, we as a society can't pay attention that long (with me being guilty of this as well) and a 15 minute video of some random guy blabbering on about coffee would make anyone want to go nuts. So I decided to make it a monthly thing.

Now like many youtubers, we have all sorts of dreams and aspirations to do it once a month but then, you know, we got other super awesome ideas for a video and completely forget about our original idea.

Now the idea for this particular will it creamer was inspired by my pumpkin spice latte recipe. I thought to myself, 'you know, self, some people probably don't like pumpkin spice lattes and think they are gross. I wonder if someone would want to watch my hairy chinned self drink a really gross one...' Then I began brewing up ideas on how to make it gross. First, I would have to make it with actual pumpkin. Not from like a can, like a wuss but an actual pumpkin. Now I could have brought a huge normal sized one but I figured that would be way to much mess for the amount of pumpkin I would need, so I got a little fella. Now when I thought spice I initially thought, OOO spicy. And that's where the hot sauce idea came from for the 'spice' part of the 'pumpkin spice latte'. Now you might be wondering, well where's the latte part? Well... there isn't one. It's just a title I guess. But it really was a gross pumpkin spice latte that, if I drank more than a sip, I would probably have some seriously upset stomach and terrible regret later. If you catch my drift.

Well I hope you liked this little back story on my will it creamer series and on this video. If you want to check out the video, I would probably love you forever. Unless you stink. Then I'll love everything about you but your stench. OH and go brew up some love for somebody!

American Coffee- History of Coffee in The United States of America

Now this video was a blast to make. Pairing my love of history, America, and coffee was an absolute joy for me. I did however mention that I was not able to get all the info in the video that I wanted. So here's a few more bit of facts that I did manage to find.

In 1793, a little coffee house called the Merchants Coffee house was born in New York City. It served as a meeting place for a bunch of stockbrokers. The coffee must have been quite good because it helped birth the Buttonwood Agreement. Now this agreement bound the people who signed it to only trade with each other. With this agreement, the once bunch of stockbrokers meeting for a cup of joe grew exponentially. To the point where they created their own board known as the New York Stock and Exchange Board, now known as the New York Stock Exchange. It is now the largest stock exchange in the world. Sadly, the birthplace of this Exchange had to be demolished in the 1850's.

Speaking of New Yorkians, the Burns coffee roaster was invented in 1864 by a New Yorker by the name of Jabez Burns. What he invented was essentially the grandfather of the current coffee roaster. It was the first coffee roaster that did not have to be moved away from a fire source in order to discharge the newly roasted coffee beans.

The first mass produced coffee in America was not Folgers or Maxwell House but a coffee called Arbuckles coffee. Founded by John Arbuckle in 1871, his coffee was the first paper packaged and mass produced coffee in America. He also was the first importer of American coffee by buying out all the South American merchant ships carrying coffee.

Jump WAY ahead to 1966 and you'll meet Albert Peet. He was the founder of Peet's coffee and is known as the 'grandfather' of the specialty coffee industry. Just 5 years later, he taught three of his buddies how to roast coffee. Those guys, Jerry Baldwin, Zev Siegl, and Gordon Bowker got broken into the coffee roasting business over the Christmas holiday that year. After learning the ropes, Albert gives them his blessing to start their own business, which we now know as Starbucks coffee. Of course we know how big Starbucks got, and in 1984, led by Jerry Baldwin, these owners of Starbucks buy their mentor's business, Peet's.

I hope you really enjoyed the read and that you check out the video along with my other videos on coffee around the world. If you have any thoughts or ideas for a video or a blog post, please comment down below. I'd love to explore new ideas! And go brew up some love for somebody!
